Establishment of the Sylff Alumni Association in Mongolia

Video Message

Mr. Tserenchimed, Director of Graduate Studies, Mrs. Aijan, Foreign Relations and Cooperation Officer, and Sylff fellows. I extend my heartfelt congratulations on the establishment of the Sylff Alumni Association in Mongolia. During my recent meeting with President Ukhnaagin Khurelsukh, he talked about the importance of the Sylff program at the Graduate Studies and that many of those who have completed their studies are actively contributing to the development of Mongolia. I am very proud of your activities fellows, and at the same time, express my gratitude to the Graduate Studies of the National Governance Academy for the excellent management of the Sylff program.

As you know, the support that The Nippon Foundation provides does not end with just scholarships. Our wish is to create a life-long relationship, like a family, with all our current and graduated fellows via the Sylff network. This is the reason why we are delighted that you have voluntarily decided to establish your Alumni Association here in Mongolia and to expand and strengthen the existing network of Sylff graduated fellows.

The mission of Sylff is to nurture leaders with public minded spirit who can face and tackle issues of global magnitude. However, today, social issues have become more complex than ever that it has become difficult for a single nation, organization, or individual to solve these global issues alone. To date, The Nippon Foundation has established endowment funds at 69 universities and educational institutions in 44 countries and have nurtured 17000 outstanding Sylff fellows across diverse fields. It is my hope that an organization such as your Sylff Alumni Association will spread throughout the entire globe, and ask you all to proactively work to strengthen the network of these seventeen thousand Sylff fellows.

To you, Sylff Fellows, let us be united in solidarity, keeping in mind the principle of “One World One Family”. If we are to change the world for the better, mutual cooperation with all the Sylff fellows is required while overcoming differences in politics, ideologies, religion, ethnicity and national borders. Let us continue to make every contribution to realize a wonderful world under this strong bond called the Family. Thank you very much.
