5th International Expert Symposium in Fukushima on Radiation and HealthChernobyl+30, Fukushima+5 - Lessons and Solutions for Fukushima’s Thyroid Question

Thirty years have passed since the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, and five years have passed since the accident in Fukushima.

The Nippon Foundation has organized a series of international expert symposia in Fukushima on radiation and health since 2011. The fifth symposium will be held September 26-27, 2016, and will focus on the issue of thyroid cancer. Discussions will examine scientific evidence to deepen participants’ understanding of the thyroid gland, and seek ways to improve the current situation in Fukushima and protect people’s health over the long term.
