The Nippon Foundation would like to extend its deepest condolences to all who have been affected by the massive flooding that occurred in northern Nepal on August 26, 2026. Major damage has been inflicted over a wide area, including entire riverside villages being swept away by flash floods.

The Nippon Foundation has launched the Nepal Large-Scale Flood Emergency Relief Fund and is asking for donations from within Japan and around the world, in the hope that the lives of the people in the affected area can return to normal as quickly as possible. Donations to the fund can be made via The Nippon Foundation’s Nepal Large-Scale Flood Emergency Relief Fund (external site).

  • The scheduled period for accepting donations is from August 28 to September 10, 2026 (subject to change)

Donations received will be used to support people in the affected area and provide emergency assistance in response to this floodingThe entire amount of donations received will go to relief efforts; donations will not be used for the Foundation’s administrative expenses.

Even though we may be far from where the floods occurred, there is still something we can do. Your desire to “help in some way” can lead to actual support for people in the affected area. We sincerely ask for your support to deliver assistance to as many people as possible.
