About The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project

The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project is a global project that is calling on governments, companies, and other organizations around the world to provide bathymetric data, converting that data into maps, and supporting research related to surveying technologies, with the aim of creating a complete, accurate, world map of the ocean floor. The project has been officially recognized as a flagship program of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

International project aims to complete mapping of the entire ocean floor by 2030

The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project is an international project that aims to map 100% of the oceans floor, to create bathymetric charts that are essential for humanity and the earth with uses ranging from safe maritime navigation to predicting climate change. Since its launch in 2018, the project has been working with governments, research institutes, NGOs, and the general public around the world to create a complete map of the global ocean floor that will be available to anyone.
