The Nippon Foundation would like to extend its deepest condolences to all who have been affected by the earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10, 2026.
News reports indicate that major damage has occurred, including collapsed and damaged buildings, with more than 200 people killed and more than 1,000 people injured.

The Nippon Foundation has launched the Special Fund for Disaster Relief: Colombia Earthquake Emergency Relief and is asking for donations from within Japan and around the world, in the hope that the lives of the people in the affected area can return to normal as quickly as possible.

Donations to the fund can be made via The Nippon Foundation’s Special Fund for Disaster Relief: Colombia Earthquake Emergency Relief website.

  • The scheduled period for accepting donations is from August 12 to September 30, 2026 (subject to change)

Donations received will be used to support people in the affected area and provide emergency assistance in response to this earthquake.
The entire amount of donations received will go to relief efforts; donations will not be used for the Foundation’s administrative expenses.

Even though we may be far from where the earthquake struck, there is still something we can do.
Your desire to “help in some way” can lead to actual support for people in the affected area.
We sincerely ask for your support to deliver assistance to as many people as possible.
