Support in Japan (Closed)
In February 2022, Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine. In response, the following month, we announced our support for evacuees from Ukraine coming to Japan. Since then, we have continued to provide support both in Japan and overseas, with a view to addressing their medium- to long-term needs.
This report summarizes the details and outcomes of our support for displaced Ukrainians.
Support Outside Japan (Closed)
Support for Persons with Disabilities (Closed)
In cooperation with Access Israel[1] and The SocialWorkHUB,[2] we have provided support for persons with disabilities and their families who wish to or have evacuated from Ukraine to neighboring countries.
- Details:
- Made arrangements for 10 vehicles to be used for evacuation, and provided assistance and daily necessities to persons with disabilities and their families who wish to evacuate from Ukraine
- Provided temporary shelter and support for daily living for persons with disabilities and their families who have evacuated to neighboring countries including Poland, Romania, Austria, Moldova, and Slovakia
- Note 1: Access Israel was established in 1999 in Israel, a country that has experienced many years of conflict, as an NGO working to provide accessibility and independence to persons with disabilities.↩︎
- Note 2: The SocialWorkHUB was established in 2017 in Vienna, Austria. Since its foundation, it has been supporting people affected by conflicts.↩︎
Dispatching of Japanese Student Volunteers (Closed)
We have dispatched Japanese university student volunteers to distribute medical supplies, food, and other items to evacuees, manage relief supplies, and disseminate information from a base in Krakow, Poland.
